KURT COBAIN
Born in 1967. Frontman of Nirvana. Shot to stardom in late 91 when "Smells Like Teen Spirit" single, and the Nevermind album topped the Billboard charts. Married Courtney Love in 1992. Father of Frances Bean Cobain. Died on April 5th 1994. Found on April 8th. Close friends say he wasn't suicidal . Possible victim of a homicide made to look like a suicide through lies and media manipulation.
Kurt Cobain

COURTNEY LOVE
Started her band Hole in 1989. Married Kurt Cobain in 1992. Had a hollywood make over in 1997. Has been fighting with Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic over unreleased Nirvana material, and selling Kurt's diaries to be published. According to Kurt's friends , she used the media to cement the fact that Kurt was suicidal, even though none of them thought he was, and Kurt said on two occasions during March 1994 that he wasn't.
Courtney Love

TOM GRANT
In law enforcement since 1969 and a Private Investigator since the 70's. Hired by Courtney on April 3rd to originally track Kurt's credit card. Flew up to Seattle a couple days later. Searched the Cobain home a couple times with Dylan Carlson before Kurt was found. Came to the conclusion that Kurt was murdered after 8 months of research, talking to people, and witnessing Courtney's alleged strange behaviour. More background info.
Tom Grant

MICHAEL "CALI" DEWITT
One of the main suspects in Cobain's death, according to Tom Grant. Longtime friend of Courtney. Had a job as the male nanny for Cobain's daughter, travelled with them, and lived in their Seattle home. Was nowhere to be found the days Kurt was missing until showing up in L.A. to talk to Courtney on April 7th, a day before Kurt's body was found. Was also in Rome when Kurt had the Rohypnol/champagne overdose accident.
Michael DeWitt

DYLAN CARLSON
Kurt's best friend. He purchased the shotgun Kurt was found with before Kurt left for rehab, not after like Courtney told the media and police. Says Kurt was not suicidal after he got back from Rome, and he would not have purchased the shotgun for him if he was. Was interviewed in Nick Broomfield's Kurt & Courtney movie. Has a group called "Earth", who released a song on late 2001 that had Kurt "singing" background vocals.
Dylan Carlson

ROSEMARY CARROLL
Entertainment lawyer. Good friends with both Kurt and Courtney. Told Tom Grant that Kurt was not suicidal, and had her suspicions of Kurt's death being a murder. Was in contact with Grant for a few months before abruptly stopping after Courtney made her (and everyone else that worked for her, including DeWitt) sign a confidentiality agreement. Some recorded conversations Audio Clip between Carroll and Grant are available on this site.

ELDON "EL DUCE" HOKE
Singer of an L.A. punk band called "The Mentors". Claims Courtney offered him $50,000 to kill Kurt in December 1993. Hoke was administered a polygraph test by Dr. Edward Gelb, who one of the country's leading polygraph experts. Hoke apparently passed with 99.7% certainty that he was telling the truth. Found dead on April 19, 1997 after friends say he went for a walk with someone they've never seen before. Read Eldon Hoke, AKA El Duce - By Frances Barnett for more info.

IAN HALPERIN & MAX WALLACE
Canadian journalists. Won an award from Rolling Stone magazine in 1984 for Investigative Journalism. Authors of "Who Killed Kurt Cobain?" (1998) and "Love & Death" (2004). Got involved after hearing rumors that Kurt was murdered shortly after his death. Also wrote an article for Canadian Disk magazine in June 1995. Check out this 1999 interview with Max Wallace in the Harbinger and audio/video from the Love & Death publicity tour.

HANK HARRISON
Courtney Love's father. Believes the murder theories, and has his own ideas on what happened. Grant and others seem to distance themselves from him, as they believe he is "out there" and supposedly makes the seriousness of this investigation look bad. Was interviewed in Nick Broomfield's "Kurt & Courtney" movie. Was involved with the Grateful Dead. Also wrote a book called "Kurt Cobain: Beyond Nirvana".
Hank Harrison

RICHARD LEE
Seattle journalist who was one of the first people to talk about the murder theories. Has a public access television show in Seattle and a web site about his own investigation. Lee is his own man with this case and apparently doesn't like Grant and most others involved.
He appeared at some of Courtney's court hearings and made news in early 2004 with his attempts to confront her about the murder theories.
Richard Lee

NICK BROOMFIELD
British director that made the Kurt & Courtney movie. Broomfield's film was financed by the cable network Showtime (owned by Viacom, which also owns MTV). The film posits that Courtney Love was able to use her hefty musical clout to force Showtime to withdraw funding, which is documented during the course of the film. In the end, Broomfield was able to finish the film with assistance from the BBC and private investors.
Nick Broomfield

NIRVANA
Kurt's group, which also included Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl (now in the Foo Fighters). Credited for changing the music industry with their fresh sound and attitudes. Discography:
Bleach (1989) - Nevermind (1991)
Incesticide (1992) - In Utero (1993)
MTV Unplugged in New York (1995)
From the Muddy Banks of Wishka (1996)
Nirvana (2002).

KRISTEN PFAFF Kristen Pfaff
Bass player for Courtney's band Hole. Died two months after Kurt on June 16th 1994. Had a U-Haul packed to leave Hole, Courtney and Seattle the next morning. Was found dead locked in the bathroom of her apartment of an apparent heroin overdose. Similarities between the way she and Kurt died, as well as how the Seattle police (mis)handled both cases, have raised questions. Read Kristen Pfaff - By Frances Barnett for more info.
